Outdoor Education
At Your Ideas School we believe that outdoor learning offers numerous benefits for our children. Our children have the opportunity to be immersed in nature on a daily basis, in our outdoor areas, on local walks, trips and visits to nature reserves, woods and parks and during our weekly visits to Forest School. Outdoor learning allows our children to develop a deeper connection to nature whilst enhancing their academic and social skills in a therapeutic, inclusive space.

Benefits of Outdoor Education
By engaging with nature, children improve their problem-solving and teamwork skills, as they often work together to navigate challenges or explore their environment.
A hands-on, experiential learning approach encourages creativity, curiosity, and resilience, helping children build confidence and a sense of responsibility.

Being outdoors also provides opportunities for physical activity, which can help to improve motor skills, coordination, and overall health.
We also notice that many of our children feel calmer when they are outdoors, and so this is an important part of promoting emotion regulation and boosting mental wellbeing.
Forest School
Each week, children have the opportunity to try woodland-based activities and child-led free play at Forest School.

These sessions focus on the development of self-esteem, health, independence, social skills, well-being, confidence, and resilience, as well as cross-curricular skills.
Children can build trust with peers and mentors in an open, natural setting, and can develop resilience, improve social skills.
